Drywall Price Increase Delay & Upcoming Increase for Metal Studs

As of November 29, it now appears that implementation of the new pricing in the industry will be delayed until February 2011. National Lumber is passing along a new notice from National Gypsum that they are delaying their 20 percent wallboard price increases until February 7, 2010. At that time, they will also be increasing prices on several additional product lines by 6 percent. You can read this official notice here.

Also, Clark Western has announced a 10 percent increase on their steel products effective December 6, 2010, because of mill cost increases. The official statement can be found here.

Please plan on these increases for any upcoming jobs.

I wondered if the price increase would hold, the timing seemed awkward. I expect the gypsum price increases for February will only hold if construction picks up in January.
