LP® SmartSide® tests projectiles against siding – see the video

I just returned from vacationing in Pennsylvania, where I was unlucky enough to be a witness to a large hailstorm. While I’m waiting to hear from my insurance company about the damage to my car, this video from LP® SmartSide® was brought to my attention. Homes can also be damaged by hail or other projectiles thrown about by a strong storm. Take a look at the video to see how two common siding materials compare to LP® SmartSide®

SmartSide™ products provide the warmth and look of wood without many of the problems associated with natural wood. The cedar grain texture is embossed into the boards providing better continuity of definition making the depth of the grain more visible. The boards are embossed and not cut, allowing better performance against weather and moisture. SmartSide products are manufactured using the borate-based SmartGuard process to resist termites and fungal decay. In addition, a resin saturated paint base overlay is fused to the engineered substrate, resulting in a surface that is easy to paint. Installation is also quick and easy because no special cutting or fastening tools are required.

Of course, there are many factors that go into deciding on a siding material for a particular project. Whatever type of siding you prefer, National Lumber has the selection you want.

Other companies such as Andersen should soon follow, as demand for vintage-styled reclaimed wood products continues to grow.
