Simpson Strong-Tie has released a new single-screw solution for truss and rafter uplift and lateral loads, the Strong-Drive® Structural Wood Screw.

The Strong-Drive® SDWC provides a time-saving and reliable option to fastening trusses and rafters to wall top plates. The SDWC offers fully tested loads in accordance with ICC-ES AC233 (screw) and ICC-ES AC13 (roof-to-wall assembly), and installs easily and effectively without pre-drilling.

FEATURES:

  • Fully-threaded shank engages the entire length of the fastener, providing a secure connection between the roof and wall framing members
  • Cap-style head countersinks fully into the double top plate to avoid interference with drywall or finish trades
  • Wide installation-angle range makes it easier to install the SDWC correctly
  • Can be installed from inside the structure, eliminating exterior work on the upper stories and enhancing job safety
  • Fastening can be performed before or after exterior sheathing is applied for added flexibility
  • Metal installation guide tool (included) to help ensure proper installation
  • Matched-tolerance driver bit (included) engages fastener head securely to allow one-handed driving (replacement bit part no. BIT30T-R1)
  • Type-17 point for faster starts and easier driving

Simpson Strong-Tie’s Quik Drive PRO300S auto-feed screw driving system includes a new decking nose clip, a handy accessory that centers the screw on the deck joist and places each screw the same distance from the edge of the board. This helps to give the deck a clean finished appearance. The Quik Drive PRO300S kit includes the auto-feed attachment, removable nose clip, extension for stand-up driving, as well as a choice of a DeWalt or Makita screwdriver motor. 2011 Spring Vendor Days

National Lumber in Newton, MA is hosting a series of free vendor events in late April and all of May. You’re encouraged to join us for your morning coffee break at our Newton store from 7am–11am and meet product experts with their latest and greatest offerings. Coffee and baked goods will be provided.

There will be featured product vendors every weekday between April 25th and May 27th, 2011. National Lumber’s custom millwork division, National Millwork will be featured on April 25th. Also. National Lumber’s Engineered Wood Products division will be featuring the exclusive FLOOR-LOC System on May 27th.
